Current censorship in education

Current censorship in education is a growing concern as certain books, topics, or viewpoints face restrictions. While proponents aim to shield students from sensitive content, critics argue that such measures limit critical thinking and hinder a well-rounded education. Balancing legitimate concerns with the need for an open and diverse learning environment remains a key challenge in this ongoing debate.
We are not alone
Many voters had opposed to remove books from libraries
69% of voters are against removing books from public or school libraries
And yet books are being banned at a continuous level
The American Library Association reported 1,269 attempts to censor library books and recourses in 2022. This has been the highest number of attempted book bans since 20 years ago.

How can we help?
To help stop book bans, raise awareness about intellectual freedom, diverse perspectives, and the right to access information. Engage in open discussions, join or support local advocacy groups, and encourage educators to provide diverse reading options. Support organizations like the American Library Association (ALA) and participate in campaigns opposing book bans to contribute to a culture that values the free exchange of ideas
